Can't Get You Out of My Head: Kylie Minogue Heads to "Doctor Who"
Sometimes it's so hard to have received a piece of particularly juicy gossip but be unable to share it with you, my readers. (Believe it or not, it happens more often than you think.)
So, thanks to a particularly well-timed release (though beware, it contains spoilers), it's time to unburden myself on this particular point, at least (Cinemaniac knows what I'm talking about), what with the US launch of Doctor Who's third season just around the corner (Friday, to be precise).
Lucky, lucky, lucky singer Kylie Minogue has signed on to appear in Doctor Who's Season Four Christmas special, which is now titled "Voyage of the Damned" (a far less cheerful title than "The Runaway Bride," the third season's special), in which she'll play one of the lead roles. (Read: one of the Doctor's temporary assistants/companions à la Catherine Tate in "The Runaway Bride.")
"We are delighted and excited to announce that Kylie Minogue will be joining the Doctor," said executive producer Russell T. Davies. "Doctor Who Christmas specials are always a joy and we feel very confident that this will be the most ambitious and best Christmas episode yet."
Filming on Doctor Who's "Voyage of the Damned" Christmas special starts this month in Cardiff.
What's On Tonight
8 pm: NCIS (CBS); America's Got Talent (NBC; 8-10 pm); Gilmore Girls (CW); According to Jim/According to Jim (ABC); On the Lot (FOX)
9 pm: The Unit (CBS); Veronica Mars (CW); Shaq's Big Challenge (FOX); House (FOX)
10 pm: 48 Hours Mystery (CBS); Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC); Primetime (ABC)
What I'll Be Watching
9 pm: Veronica Mars.
I'm still so bloody angry at the CW I can taste it. But before Veronica Mars disappears off the airwaves completely, catch the few summer repeats while they last. On tonight's repeat episode ("Lord of the Pi's"), Veronica investigates the disappearance of Selma Rose Hearst (guest star Patricia Hearst), the wealthy granddaughter of Hearst College's founder, who conveniently vanishes the very night before she is to cast a swing vote to determine the fate of the Greek system. Meanwhile, more problems ahead for Veronica and Logan and Veronica is terrified after her near-attack by the Hearst College rapist.
10 pm: Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List on Bravo.
Yes, it's a guilty pleasure of the highest degree but I'm desperate for something to watching tonight. On this week's installment, Kathy prepares to leave for an international comedy show only to learn that her father is in the hospital and may not pull through. A little somber for the night before the Fourth of July, but at least it's something new.
