Casting Couch: Dawnie Gets Key to the City on "Gossip Girl"

It's always a happy day when Misha Barton isn't cast in something I'm watching.

The waifish former OC star won't be appearing in a multiple-episode arc this season on the CW's guiltiest pleasure, Gossip Girl. Instead filling the role of Georgina Sparks, a new nemesis for Serena (Blake Lively): former Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star Michelle Trachtenberg.

Yes, the Buffy's lil' sis--a.k.a. The Key, a rather animated ball of light--herself will be joining the cast of Gossip Girl this May. Trachtenberg will bring, I am sure a delicious cattiness to the role of Georgina, who shows up on the Upper East Side after a stint in rehab to make life even more hellish (though still luxuriously stylish) for poor Serena.

As for Misha, let's just hope she doesn't throw any more lawn furniture into the pool now that the news has broken. 'Cause that would be a travesty.

On tonight's episode ("Meet Kevin Johnson"), Ben convinces Alex to flee Locke's camp when he learns of an imminent attack, Sayid confronts Michael aboard the Kahana, and we learn just what "Kevin Johnson" has been up to since we last saw him at the end of Season Two. It's the last episode before hiatus and I cannot wait!
