Casting Couch: "Smallville" Finds its Supergirl

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's.... Supergirl.

As previously reported, the cast of the CW's drama Smallville will expand next season to include the new character of Supergirl.

Cast in the role is Canadian actress Laura Vandervoort, best known for her role as Sadie Harrison on the N's Instant Star and guest roles on CSI and The Dresden Files.

Vandervoort will play Kara, Clark Kent's cousin, who also has similar abilities to her relative, in addition to flight.

Vandervoort reports to work next week on Smallville, which returns for its seventh season this fall.

What I'll Be Watching

8 pm: Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares on BBC America.

Missing a softer side of Chef Ramsay? Catch the launch of the third season of the original UK Kitchen Nightmares before FOX launches an American-scented one this fall. On tonight's installment ("La Parra de Burriana"), Gordon heads to Spain's Costa del Sol where he tangles with a 26-year-old ex-nightclub manager turned restaurateur who is more than a little resistant to change.

9 pm: The Office.

On tonight's repeat episode ("The Convention"), Michael, Dwight and Jan attend a convention in Philadelphia, where Michael attempts to organize a rather sad party in his hotel room, leading to a reunion of sorts.

9:30 pm: 30 Rock.

It's Televisionary's favorite new comedy from last season and one of my favorite episodes tonight. On tonight's repeat installment ("Black Tie"), Liz joins Jack at a birthday party for a foreign prince (Paul Reubens), Jack's ex-wife (Isabella Rosselini) shows up, and Tracy tempts Pete with a kegger at the office. Classic.

10 pm: The Office.

It's a bonus repeat episode of The Office, "The Injury," in which Michael injures his foot on a George Foreman grill and disrupts the entire office, while Dwight has a personality change from a car accident. Easily still my favorite episode of the series.
