ABC Resurrects, Ahem, Burns Off "The Nine" This Summer

I know that there are still a few fans of ABC's failed drama The Nine out there. (I can see you lurking in the shadows over there.)

So you'll be pleased as punch then that ABC is finally letting fans see the final six episodes of The Nine, which are being burned off this summer.

Series, which was yanked from the network's schedule in November (and then quietly canceled earlier this year), will return with its final batch of episodes, beginning with "Turning Point," on August 1st at 10 pm.

ABC describes the episode thusly: "Eight of the nine are brought to the District Attorney's office to relive the security guard's murder, Kathryn is offered an endorsement by the Mayor for District Attorney, and Lizzie becomes aware of the relationship between Jeremy and Franny."

One caveat, however, those of you looking for some sort of, you know, resolution will be eternally perturbed. According to the Futon Critic, the central plotline of the series isn't resolved within The Nine's final six episodes.

Which leads one to wonder what the point was of airing these six eps in the first place.

What I'll Be Watching

8-11 pm: Doctor Who on Sci Fi.

Catch the beginning of Season Three right here. First up is "The Runaway Bride," a Christmas Special that sees the Doctor team up with Catherine Tate (she of the "Am I bovvered?" catchphrase and eponymous sketch comedy series), a bride-to-be who vanishes from her wedding and appears on the TARDIS. Then it's the official Season Three premiere, "Smith and Jones," which introduces the Doctor's new traveling companion, Martha Jones, as this unwitting medical student and the Doctor are transported right into danger. Figures.

9 pm: Jericho.

Break out the peanuts, true believers. CBS is reairing resurrected drama Jericho from the beginning with the pilot episode tonight, in which Jake returns to Jericho just in time for a nuclear explosion.
