Saying Goodbye to "Switched at Birth"
Tonight marks the series finale of Switched at Birth, a show that meant a great deal to me over the years. As a critic, as a reporter, and as a viewer, I've been so impressed with how the show has deftly handled a plethora of hot-button social issues with grace, insight, and innate humanity, which feels all the more rare and significant in our current political climate.
I have so many fond memories of writing about, covering, watching, and interacting with this show: moderating a panel for the Television Academy, somehow being the one to tell creator Lizzy Weiss that they were picked up for a third season, Constance Marie helping me pick out a high chair for my son, visiting the set, and even having a character named after me on the show. (!)
To the cast, writers, and crew of this remarkable show, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing such an important, groundbreaking show to life for more than 100 episodes over five seasons. You'll be missed, Switched at Birth. More than you know.
